On the social immaturity of brands, via Mitch Joel:
They try to get too personal and instead of it coming off as sincere, it comes off as creepy and pushes people away.
This is why brands sound so lame on the social sphere. Don't ask me how my weekend was. First of all, if I just met you, why should I let you know? Second, if I already know you, what kind of answer are you expecting? "Oh gee, it was great, and I bought a lot of [your brand] and we partied all weekend long!"?
PS: This is the fourth post for "We all love quotes", where I choose a quote I like, refer to where I found it and drop a line about my thoughts on the matter. Hope you like it!
